This Week’s Objective: Shorten a Pop Song
Let’s say you want to enter a dance competition or a talent show. You have just the right song, but it’s way too long. Maybe the event organizers have a time limit on all acts, or you just don’t have enough moves to fill an entire three or four minute song.
This week Music Technology students will learn how to import an audio file, one that they have perhaps previously imported into iTunes, and edit it in GarageBand. Once there, they can remove things they deem superfluous, such as second verses or instrumental interludes. Often this is a service people will pay an audio engineer to do for them.
